In the timeless town of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendía family navigate love, oblivion, and the inevitability of a shared past and destiny, building the props and sets of the series. in Spanish. Its style is unparalleled and its scope surpasses all imagination. Its characters are portrayed so well that any screenwriter would have no trouble putting it on the screen. But the seemingly insurmountable problem with adapting the novel was its length. Compressing a hundred years of family and national history was an impossible task. After nearly 60 years since its publication, the novel has found a cinematic home on Netflix. Only streaming can do it justice, and the first 2 parts are very promising. Great photography, art direction, and respect for the characters. The voice acting is needed to allow Garcia Marquez’s wonderful prose to emerge from time to time. The plot develops smoothly with richness and depth. I love it and was a little skeptical that the magical world of GGM could be translated to the screen. Well, so far it’s a success in my book..
