Following a traumatic incident during his internship, young medical student James Hayman (Namir Smallwood) moves to a rural hospital to start over. Noticing James struggling and trying to connect with patients, Dr. Harrison (stage and screen veteran Michael Potts) suggests a conference focused on good bedside manner and facilitating deeper patient relationships. The demons of James’ past begin to catch up with him when he becomes preoccupied with the case of a young asthma patient (Sidney Flanigan, NEVER SOMETIMES, ALWAYS) with mysterious symptoms. His grip on reality begins to loosen as his haunting nightmares, anxiety-fueled speculations, and physical injuries collide with the harsh realities of the medical world. Director Alex Thompson assembles a strong cast of veteran actors in the sequel to SAINT FRANCES—and predecessor to THE LIGHT OF THE SPIRIT—in this humanistic, offbeat take on the genre.
